We all need the sun. Mushrooms and anglerfish notwithstanding, plants and critters alike pivot their cycles around the warmth and light we crave. Even more astonishing perhaps is the willingness of that golden orb to reach into the gardens and faces of every recipient of His blessings.
This inclusiveness seems to be in short supply, at least as far as humans go. Controversy slams like a cleaver between people who might otherwise find reasons to connect, were they so inclined.
Sometimes reasons are handed to me. There are in person gatherings for the two places I work, to celebrate the finish of an exhausting year. When we arrive, standing in that awkward gap between quarantine and companionship I could begin with divisive questions. We all know them. But I am hopeful that we can swerve in the direction of those sunny subjects that pulled us to serve in the first place.
"In the Christian world it is doctrine that differentiates churches. This would never happen if we considered love for the Lord and charity for the neighbor the chief concern of faith. True Christians would leave such issues up to the individual and their conscience. In their hearts they would say 'A person who lives as a Christian - as the Lord teaches - is a real Christian'. One church would come out of all the different churches, and all disagreements due to doctrine would vanish. Even
the hatred of one for another would melt away in a moment, and the Lord's kingdom would come on earth."
