I invite you to step outside this evening to enjoy the moon. It will be the largest full moon to shine all year.

Moonlight has long been woven to romantic feelings. The Moonlight Sonata is a hauntingly beautiful piece.
Even if you and your sweetheart are not sitting side by side tonight, even if you do not yet know each other's names, you can take comfort in the fact that you wait under the same moon.

The moon stands guard as we sleep. Its light shimmies down through the clouds and branches, like a whispered serenade over a baby's cradle.

You do not need to speak, or be interesting as you lift your gaze skyward. It is enough just to feel small in the wake of her majesty. She reigns tonight in her wordless watch, casting a glow over every roof, every spacious field, every bowed head. Whether you are aware or ignorant, thankful or apathetic, you are encompassed in her glowing embrace.

In the story of Owl Moon a father and his child hope to see a swooping night bird in the light of the milky moon. They share a silent walk through the snowy woods.

The children's book Many Moons tells of how a father strives for the healing of his precious daughter by giving her the moon on a necklace. The Prince of the Dolomites is a story about a man whose bride is from the moon. His beloved slowly withers with grief when she is forced to live away from her home, until he finds a way to harness its light for her.

These books tell how the power of love conquers seemingly impossible conundrums. Perhaps you can sit with your own troubles tonight, as you bask in the magic of her luminescence.

Maybe there is a miracle waiting for you, too.
