![]() This is a video of an instrument, albeit imaginary, that makes incredible music. I suppose if I knew how to slow down the speed, to say one ball per day, it would be less riveting. It would feel more like random clangs than a song.
I wonder if that is like our lives.
Each day that I work on my relationship with John, can seem like an isolated event, like a lonely Bb. We are hammering out the details of our son's college loans, and while we do come to a joint decision, it reminds me of a bong more than a lyrical chime. The next day we work on solving the issue of the broken oven. I riffle through the filing cabinet to find the original owner's manual. He looks up the problem on line, and orders the new part. A few days later the oven works again and I celebrate by making apple crisp. Not exactly a melodic process by itself.
But if we could see and hear our marriages, sped up like a four minute minuet, I suspect it would be mesmerizing. Actually, I think that is exactly what happens when we die. We see our lives in a high speed movie, and all of the isolated scenes flow together in an incredible sequence, orchestrated by God.
All the moments of life have a series of consequences to eternity.
