![]() The other day I saw a video where people were interviewed about one question.
"What would someone have to pay you to give up the internet for the rest of your life?"
People were aghast at the very suggestion. Answers began with a million bucks and went up from there. I am not sure what my own response would be. I can recall having a meaningful life before getting a laptop but going back to that would be incapacitating.
The interviewer ended with the suggestion that if you are indeed blessed with high speed internet at your beck and call for the foreseeable future.... you have something worth a fortune. I like that. My gratitude barometer just flew to the top.
There are people who have lost things of great value: their jobs, their health, their marriage. I suspect that if I asked what they would willingly hand over in order to get those things back, the numbers would have at least a few zeros. Is it possible to appreciate the worth of those gifts before they evaporate? Let's go through the check out line.
Eyes that work? A hundred grand.
Heart that pumps blood? Two.
Children alive and laughing? A million. Husband who comes home every night? My calculator just crashed.
