I am grateful for my girlfriends. They listen because they want to, call on your birthday and bring a little reminder that they love you. They stay up late and hold you when you cry. 

 

Having girlfriends has helped my marriage. John is happy, or shall I say relieved when I go spend time with a friend and get all that talking out of the way. He is willing to hear the details of my vacillating moods and ideas, but he would rather read the Cliff notes. 

 

Perhaps it is how I feel when I pay someone to clean my house. I can do it, but I would rather throw money at them and leave the house while they deal with the clutter.

 

I think my verbosity feels like clutter to John. He wonders why I can't get to the point more quickly. I am under the illusion that examples and specifics make it all much more relevant. He gets lost in the preamble.
