The parts I can remember go like this.
"I know when you are an old man, the lines along your face will be indelible.
I'll spend some years in your lifetime, and become part of the lines on your face. And when we get too tired for walking you'll build us some fine rocking chairs with your hands.
And when we grow too tired for talking the silence will speak of a woman and a man." I loved the song, even though neither John nor I had any creases yet and the color of our hair matched what it said on our driver's licenses. We could even still catch our little kids when they ran away in the parking lot.
Now a quiet evening at home looks pretty cozy, and the silence no longer feels like an absence of meaning. Some emotions are too wide for nouns and adjectives. A look and a squeeze work just fine.
