Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

At the end of the day, I say prayers with my twins.

I would like to report that I say them with my husband, but it is not good to lie about praying.

Still the chance to have my words reflected back to me in their eyes and sometimes questions, is a blessing.

Last night I said "Lord, I am sorry for getting angry with Ben's teachers." This led into a discussion about what they did and what I did and why I would like to behave differently in the future. I was a little uncomfortable, like when you realize your shirt is not all the way buttoned, but their interest was not tainted by blame.

John is good about reflecting my feelings back to me too. The other day I expressed my anxiety about a problem we are facing and he listened without smothering it with false reassurance. Saying it out loud, and him being a clear vessel to look at it in, helped me to see it more objectively.

I am grateful for someone to face life with. It feels much friendlier than dining alone.

Cheers.
