Did I read that right???
My cousin wrote to convey her appreciation for these messages. She had gone out to dinner with a friend who has also been reading them for awhile. Her companion said that my writing brought comfort in the last year.
“Today’s moat is especially fitting for her because she has been on a journey of gratitude since being diagnosed with breast cancer more than a year ago. She is grateful to her cancer because it has taught her to appreciate what is important in life and to let go of the stress that she feels contributed to the development of the cancer. Your moats have helped her come to that place of gratitude and treasuring the simple sweetness of life.”
I never expect to meet this woman face to face even though I feel close to our mutual friend. Thousands of mile separate us and yet this brief interchange had rendered that distance irrelevant.
She has grown into a place of trust, one that is even more permanent than fear.
