![]() I went to an anniversary celebration. It was not for a marriage but rather for a musical ensemble. The hundred plus guests were blessed by the program of songs which included both playful and classical pieces.
It was special to have the concert introduced as a silver anniversary. Twenty five years of regular practices which I can only assume included thousands of hours of effort to get the right notes and timing.
Twenty five years. The performers themselves were clearly having fun, and had created a synergy of movements and sound that blended like the colors in an evening sky. Twenty five years. While the words come easily, they speak of hard earned longevity. I have seen these men serenade at the weddings of each other's children, the funerals of one another's parents. Two of them had grandchildren in the audience, whose lives are enriched by a grandpa who loves to harmonize.
Twenty five years. There is no short cut for a relationship, musical or marital, that is decades deep with history. What is marvelous to me, is that their love for music is so generous it spilled out over everyone in the room.
