Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

I climbed downstairs in the nippy morning air, and headed for the computer to compose a story. My son and I share this lap top and he was up late watching You Tubes. The one poised and waiting for me was this one. It is a four minute compilation of death defying feats of mostly teenagers who brazenly spurn gravity, heights, serendipity and their own bodies. Pretty crazy. It was posted a few days ago and already has seven million views. I may watch it again and then it will be seven million and one.

What is not on film, of course is the hundreds if not thousands of times they failed. Who would watch footballs flying out of reach, or bicycles splatting on the pavement? Even I can miss a basketball hurling through the air. No need to watch You Tube.

Although I do not aspire to leap from a bridge with nothing but a flimsy parachute to soften my fall, or slide under a car doing the splits, the conquests are impressive. When I convert it to Lori sized aspirations my heart rate goes up.

Maybe I really could think up a fabulous way to celebrate our next anniversary? It seems about as likely as catching three footballs as once, but hey, a girl can dream. What if John and I could finally get our songs published in the real world? Amy Grant, move over. What if this next conference had 500 people streaming through the door, with faces I cannot identify mixed in who are searching for help in their marriage? Imagine if high school and college kids actually signed up to hear from the insightful presenters, and it repositions their future relationships?

That would be worth posting on You Tube.
