Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

It has been painful to see the aftermath of deceit surrounding Lance Armstrong. One commentator simply said that he got really good at lying. Figuring out how to start telling the truth seemed like a steeper incline than this particular athlete had ever tackled.

Apparently one of the factors in the bicyclist confessing was realizing that his son trusted him, and was defending him against the accusations. He knew that he was not worthy of his child's respect.

Lying is corrosive. It begets more lies, and unhinges the confidence that is the framework for marriage.

We get better at the things we practice. Telling the truth in a relationship is hard. But not nearly as hard as coming back from a lifetime of deception.
