![]() I saw a video that took three tissues. And I have not yet, nor will I ever meet the people in it. Of course my eyes were intent on the girl as I watched it, but I was equally drawn to the hundred or so family and friends who pulled together to create an epic proposal. It was the climax of planning, practice, travel, videography, and an outpouring of love. And yet it is only the beginning. I say beginning, because it is the time of consent. Yet doesn't that unfairly minimize the years of a burgeoning relationship leading up to the moment on bended knee? We celebrate birthdays with candles and spangled gifts as if they mark the absolute beginning of a child's life, but the months of gestation are part of the process too, as any woman who clasps her hands to her swollen and swelling belly can tell you.
There is an abundance of joy spilling out of this video... more than can be counted, or squashed down. My hope is that the couple will watch it again, and again, and again, and again. The miracle is that the reservoir of exuberant love will not be depleted each time they see it.
On the contrary, the supply is bottomless.
