Marriage Moats-Not All Great

Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

I send out a marriage moat every day. Some I like more than others. It is hard to be interesting on a consistent basis. But a friend reassured me back when I was finding my groove.

"They don't have to all be great."

That comment, although it may or not be representative of the entire moat readership, has come back to calm me. When life yanks me away from the computer... to ferry progeny hither and yon, or scramble eggs, or put a ruffle on a little girl's skirt, there are days when ok will have to do.

When people are in the dating phase of their relationship, their time together is disproportionately stellar. They eat at swanky restaurants, and dress for success. Married life tends to dilute the spectacular with mediocrity.

Like tonight. I drove Zack and a passel of friends to a dance lesson, and John will fetch them. Not the stuff of novels, but it is a sashay in the dance that is our life.

Actually I don't mind much. Even I could not subsist on a diet of nothing but fair trade chocolate. An ordinary supper of chili and cornbread warms me from the inside out.
