Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

I took Benjamin for his semi annual visit to the endocrinologist. I noticed that they keep careful records, and were able to show me that he has grown two inches in six months. They took his blood pressure and asked routine questions.

"Drop in appetite?"

"No."

"Frequent urination?"

"Nope."

It is interesting to me that Benjamin himself does not know his blood pressure. Neither do I. But someone who understands what to look for has a clue about what such measures indicate. The doctor handed me the prescription for 125 mcg of levothyroxine and I made an appointment with the receptionist to come back in the spring.

This week we visited with two couples we are mentoring. Mentally I took their blood pressure, and checked the pulse of their relationship.

Smile when they look at each other? Check.

Eye rolling? None.

Carving time for their relationship between jobs and kids? Yup.

Friendly touching? Some.

We chatted and both John and I held their adorable babies. We served them apple crisp and listened to the current challenges. One of them mentioned that watching us play with their child gave her fresh ideas about redirection.

I encouraged them to appreciate each other and pray for their marriage daily.

We will get back with them in a month or so.
