![]() I was driving through a sketchy part of town when I saw a slew of cardboard signs planted on telephone poles. The spelling was touch and go, as was the handwriting. But the message was brazen enough.
"We will Buy Your Hous for cash! Closeing in three days! Call now!"
Forgive me if I judge a book by its cover but the offer seemed a tad shady. I wondered how many people hand over their deed to an entity whose entire advertizing campaign could fit in a cart from Staples.
It got me thinking about college students who are easily convinced to hand over their permanent residence to someone they have know for seventy two hours. Their body. Transplants notwithstanding it is the only one we get.
I suppose I am guilty of being judgmental but I distrust someone who pretends to have your best interest in mind when they smooth talk you into signing on the dotted line, only to skip town before the ink dries. I also have serious misgivings about someone who treats your body like a way station.
