Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

I gave John two gifts for our anniversary last month. One was a journal for us to write 1000 blessings in. The other was 100 walks.

Today I walked him to work in the early morning reprieve before the heat. It is a small thing, to spend a handful of minutes side by side, instead of him whisking off in a car, hurrying in a succession of hurrying.

We did not have an historic interchange of words, nor did we kiss at parting. But it did increase my sluggish heart a notch, at least if I can believe the app Endomando. The nifty little program tells me the elevation, calories burned and distance covered. It even logs our history.

We have just begun this modest venture. We are not in the league of other folks in town who wear froggy shaped shoes and train for marathons. I wave my blessing to them as they speed past.

But we are on our own plodding path to a slightly stronger heart. I like to think it is bringing us closer to one heart.

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit will I put within you. And I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and I will give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 11
