Thanksgiving notwithstanding, there are five Fridays before Christmas. If I want to finish a string of things without being frazzled I need to start now. I made a list. I like lists.
Week 1- Matching pajamas, order paperwhites, help twins make gifts
Week 2- Create cards, using the twins' pictures of angels and the photo from
Micah and Nicole's wedding, address envelopes
Week 3- Help Ben make presents and shop for more at the thrift store
Week 4- Mail packages to kids not coming home, decorate
Week 5- Gifts for family coming home, Tableaux
It is a modest plan. But there is still the need to follow through. I found the Grinch flannel fabric that I bought ages ago for pjs. Thankfully fabric waits without consequences, unlike groceries. I chopped it up and
finished the first three and a half pairs. Pajamas bottoms are not rocket science.
The girls are pointing a hair dryer at crayons mounted on a canvas, following the advice of a girl their age on You Tube. The project looks pretty cute already. I think the recipient will be pleased.
Making a plan for my marriage is more iffy, as it involves another person, not just yardage and wax. But in measurable increments, it's
possible.
Week 1- Invite him on a walk. These temperate days won't last forever.
Week 2- Listen to him as we help clean out his parents' house over Thanksgiving.
Week 3- Go out for coffee, maybe with another couple and maybe alone.
Week 4- Help him with a project he is working on. Show him that it matters.
Week 5- Ask what is important to him this Christmas. Consider the answer.
Small steps,
strung together are lovely. Like Christmas lights. I forgot about those.
Better add that to my list.
