Marriage Moats

Caring for Marriage

Spam Filter

There are a slew of emails that come to my inbox regularly. Some are expected, while others are novel. One of the regulars is a newsletter every Monday. But this week it did not arrive. I asked the person who manages the list and she assured me that it was sent and that I was still subscribed.

"Check your spam filter."

I did and it was waiting for me there rather nervously book ended by disgraceful invitations to meet scantily clad women. Is this what my filter protects me from every day? I vaguely knew that such garbage was rampant but felt it did not apply to me. I rescued the innocent email from the trash. There was a sigh of relief when she landed in the inbox next to a friendly message from my cousin.

It would be foolish of me to dispose of my spam filter. The onslaught of sleazy messages hovering like cockroaches would soon inundate my computer, making respectable interchange impossible.

Sometimes I think I am capable of reading horrible things, and click on a link about the latest travesty in the news. I did it last night and the distress has not yet subsided. I will have to ask God why He let that one happen on His watch. But in the meantime I will pat my spam filter gratefully, and remember to keep clear of marital pollution.
Love,

Lori
