Marriage Moats

Caring for Marriage

While I have not fallen pray to self pity, there are a few snags in our routine. The accident, the broken dishwasher, and non working oven do present obstacles. Mind you I am cognizant that the vast majority of humanity still wash their cups by hand, walk, and cook over an open flame. We have unlimited access to hot water and burners, plus the fridge is packed with choices, not all of which need to be baked or bowled.

We are also convenienced by the close proximity of both work and school. And there is one car still chugging. Also the weather is a sweet companion. Each of which are reasons to be thankful.

Naming the aspects of our household that are fully functional would take a sheet of paper. Perhaps two if I think hard. Which, it turns out is not a poor use of my time.

One of my daughters was the Christmas Elf in the play. A little boy told his mother that she was the most important of all because she gives the presents. The other twin was the White Stag, and after one of the performances was asked by a small boy for her picture. The two of them smiled while his mother clicked, and then the child asked something more.

"May I have your autograph?"

No one had ever asked for her autograph before, unless you count the bank, which I guess I should.

Let me mention that the Stag is not a big character. She has no lines and daintily flits across the stage for approximately ninety seconds. Yet she is said to be a quarry worthy of serious pursuit. Finding her will bring you luck.

Which is I suppose the same outcome as chasing gratitude or generosity as a signature character trait.
Love,

Lori
