Marriage Moats

Caring for Marriage

Commit to Paper

I am about to mail five letters. They are already addressed to the couples who were part of our marriage group last summer. I have never read them, but I did suggest their inception. As a way of penning our intentions, on the last meeting last August each of us wrote something down. On paper. With ink.

There is a power in committing to paper. I do it every day, when I concoct a list of tasks. And that small gesture has a significant effect on whether they transpire. Plus it feels good to glance back and see what I chose, day after day.

Our next summer group is already in the works. Five completely different couples have expressed interest, and all that remains is to settle on a day. And write it on my to do list.

Whether or not you join a group or match up with a mentor couple, writing down our relationship goals is a grand idea. Otherwise they may just quietly sink to the bottom of our agenda.
Love,

Lori
