I seem to have lost something.
It used to be here in my satchel, but I cannot find it. Perhaps I left it in the foyer, when I ran into that friend from high school and we got talking. I suppose I have not really been using it much lately, having acquired all sorts of better equipment. Still, it was here in my bag for as long as
I can remember.
The other day I saw someone using one that was just like mine, and I noticed for the first time that it really is outdated. I almost wanted to go up to her and show her the better technology. She was obviously struggling to get the shot in focus. I do not usually offer unsolicited advice, but, it has been way easier since I upgraded. I know it costs a bundle, but if every single job you take on is better, why not go for
it?
Sometimes the tools we use are no longer serving us. Last week I felt the well worn response of correcting John rise up in my throat, and then, I stopped it. Another, brighter set of words came into focus. I thanked him for remembering to pick up milk on the way home.
The fault finding seemed outdated. Why had I even hung on to it for so long? Appreciation gets a much better
result.
