Marriage Moats

Caring for Marriage

Some of you may be wrinkling your eyebrows.

"Climate change? Really? You can relate marriage to global warming? I know, Lori, that you have managed to craft a tenuous thread between marriage and carrots,  and a mid day call from Ben's teacher, and ice skating, but our carbon footprint? Or shall I say carbon stomp..."

There was a TED Talk by Al Gore that in less time than it takes me to get to the endocrinologist's office, transported me first from despair about the catastrophe we have made of this pristine planet, through action plans, to a crescendo of optimism.  Seconds before the entire auditorium leaped to their feet in applause, Gore said this.

"The will to act is itself a renewable resource."

Gore quoted Wallace Stevens when he said "After the final no there comes a yes, and on that yes the future world depends."

Doesn't that remind YOU of marriage?

Relationships are a fast moving conveyor belt of nos...  refusal to bend, to agree, to forgive, to listen. If I could collect my history of nos like non recyclable cups, they would fill my own personal landfill.
Love,

Lori
