Marriage Moats

Caring for Marriage

Capillaries

My understanding of anatomy is limited. Yet I think that the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide happens in the capillaries. Thicker vessels carry blood to and fro, but the life giving trade is local.

"Don't need that anymore? I can take it for you. Here, have some fresh supplies."

A friend expressed her goal for this month. Clever of her to pick the shortest one. No more snide remarks are allowed. Just kind ones. Each small exchange with her husband and kids will bring fresh energy, not snarkiness. Twenty nine days of interactions that have been cleansed. I think that could change the health of her home.

Just hearing about her intention impacted my morning. I was a shade more patient with Ben in the shower, with the rush to get the trash to the street, in saying goodbye. I noticed that the comments I withheld were stale. Garbage from expired interactions last week that no longer serve. Time for new ones that actually bring nourishment.

It is reassuring to think that my personal reformation can arrive on words as slender as a capillary.
Love,

Lori
