Stability is one of those attributes that can go unnoticed when they are up and running but wreak havoc when they aren't.
A woman I care about had a stained glass piece that borrowed its design from a quilt block named stability. It hung in her home and coaxed the light. Sunrays streamed through the window pane and when they slid past the
colored glass the dance began. I don't really understand how color escapes the spectrum in one hue or another. People have patiently explained it to me. But no matter. It's still beautiful.
Her marriage fell into disrepair. Addictions and deceit pushed stability out the second story balcony and everyone took their turn crashing on the pavement.
She began to feel like a hypocrite for having the stability block hanging on slender threads. It mocked her
distress.
Then one day she looked at it differently. The stained glass was an invitation for stability to return. Like a beacon in a lighthouse it granted her hope that the colors in her home would again be lovely.
And they are.
