Marriage Moats-Golden Glitter

I wonder
Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

I wonder what prayers would look like if we could see them.

I have heard of scientifically respectable studies that measured the effects of prayer on marriage. In one case, they went to the deep south to find people that would not scorn the researchers as soon as they posed the question "Would you pray...?"

In another study, they divided the participants into groups that prayed in general, prayed for their partner, had positive thoughts and a control group that did nothing.

The time frame was remarkably brief, only a few weeks. But in each case there was a measurable progression for people who prayed for their partners. Commitment and feelings of contentment rose.

I am disheartened, though not shocked to read the cynical comments on the article printed in the Economist. Perhaps some readers of that periodical would not have clamored to be in this particular study.

But in a world that seems eager to thrust fortunes into buying relationships through designer wardrobes, expensive gifts and five star dates, the centuries old custom of asking God to bless and protect your partner seems golden to me.
