There is a thoughtful
video that is making the rounds. Twelve million views. No big deal. But the message it gives is that even if only one person whose name you will never know is watching, the repercussions can flow out
beyond your sphere of influence.
I can save you the tissues and explain it. One little boy decides to help someone who is knocked down by a bully. That inconsequential kindness triggers other gestures of good will. Which spill into yet more. And more. Some are no larger than letting someone else in traffic. Others entail averting an injury. But the benevolence is passed like a baton between the runners of life, as they bustle through their
days.
The people we bump into most frequently are those we live with, and work with. They most definitely know our names. Yet we are given a ribbon of chances to be kind. To bend, to reach, to stretch, to smile.
One thing the video reminded me was that people who are fueled by altruism are blessed too. They are like a shock of light in a dark sky.
Another is that Someone is indeed
watching.
