I can't figure out what is up in Thailand. This
compilation of seven ads produced there is probably longer than you have time for, but perhaps you can bear to watch just one. It is painful, but that does
not make it less worth considering. They explore the tragedies around poverty, sickness, and estranged families. Yet in every case, kindness carries the day.
This week I witnessed the tears of people for whom life is heavy with failure, and loss. One woman described the overwhelm of raising young children, another the loneliness left in the wake of a husband who works long hours. One was teary because of exhaustion, with no end in
sight.
While my days of chasing toddlers are done, the muscle memory of a baby on my hip runs deep. I cannot realistically lessen the burden of these young wives, but I can offer compassion.
And astonishingly, that might just be enough.
