Marriage Moats

Caring for Marriage

We went to the new Cinderella movie. Honestly the name Kenneth Branagh is what caught my attention. His productions of Shakespeare brought those stories alive to me. Of course the plot held no surprises. Everyone knows that Cinderella's mother died, then her father. The arrival of the fairy godmother was welcome but not unexpected. Even the drama around the lost glass slipper held no wiggle room for doubt. Of course the prince would find her.

Yet we went. Probably that means that there was something besides the punch line that called to us. Even if the ending is foregone, getting there is worth the price of admission.

I suppose the finale of my life and probably yours is already written. Even if the path from here to there seems to meander into dark places, God does have your name on a celestial home with shutters painted in your favorite color, and a garden with flowers that make you smile. There is little worry that the God of the universe can trump our troubles, in marriage and out, even the ones that loom like tsunamis.

But seeing how He pulls it off does keep my attention.

I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 25
Love,
