This couple has a tradition of leaping off the docks into the Georgian Bay. It happens as part of their birthday celebration, and they have been at it for many summers. The first day you jump, it makes a splash. The second time it adds momentum from the first one, like interest from a bank account. After a decade, you have a full fledged ceremony. Probably
there are grandchildren hooting and clapping on the shore, which adds to the party.
John and I have a few traditions, like popcorn with nutritional yeast when we watch a movie, and singing in the car on long trips. Nothing that would make headlines but for us it has history. We sang on the drive to Yosemite, and on treks across the country. There are old favorites, like Sassafras and Five Pennies. Our voices fit together like our arms last night on a walk in
the snow.
The thing about creating history together is, you can't rush it. No amount of cash can bribe you to the front of the line in your Story of Us.
