Every day my computer tells me two numbers. One is the unique number of opens for Marriage Moats. The second is the total opens, which is always larger by about a hundred.
While I have never had anyone alive or virtual explain to me the difference, I have composed a story that I am attached to. When readers enjoy a moat, they forward it to
someone they care about, and start a conversation. They open it too, and the total number grows.
I have no proof that this is true.
But I cling to the image of dozens of interactions that I will never be privy to, as people savor an idea and share it.
Maybe those of you who are more computer literate could correct me. But I am hesitant.
There is a
You Tube of a dog interacting with a baby in a jumper swing. The title is "Dog teaches baby to jump" and within that context I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. What a delightful interpretation, that he would want to encourage the furless baby to have fun. But in the comments I read that the dog is actually pouncing on the
baby's shadow. Sigh. Not nearly as cute. I was happier with misinformation.
So if it is merely a fluke of cookies, or bites, or whatever they are called, that causes the total opens to be larger than unique ones, leave me in my fantasy. I enjoy it.
