It looked like a photograph of a silver pitcher. But the video clearly showed that it was a drawing. In three minutes of time lapse photography Marcello Barenghi used an array of pencils, paintbrushes and pens to create an astonishingly accurate picture.

I wandered on his website for half an hour and ended up ordering a mug, just to support his art. It seemed better than following my first impulse which was to mail him a few colored pencils. I have some laying around. They need sharpening but still. Then again maybe he goes for a pricier brand.

It was mesmerizing to witness. His observation skills are phenomenal. I mean I have run across a few candy wrappers in my day but would be at a loss to scribble even a recognizable facsimile never mind what would pass as a stock photo. Marcello does not even flinch at depicting wrinkled Euros and crushed soda cans. No smoothing everything flat to make it easier. No siree.

There were a few micro moments when I was presumptuous enough to have an opinion. Like, "Why are you using that color?" and "Aren't you forgetting the bottom half?"

Time, Lori, give him time.

Then I am chagrined to admit that I would look down at the bar at the bottom to see how much longer this video was going to take. Forty seconds left? I suppose I'll wait.

When I ponder the process of God crafting a marriage, or a human being for that matter, it is no less astonishing. Probably it would be better if I trade my advice giving tendency in for curiosity. In an effort to describe God's capacity for astute observation, let's go straight to the top of the scale. Omniscient about sums it up.

Somehow His qualifications do not deter me from having opinions, or impatience. I rush in to offer my materials, when He probably uses a better brand.

What sweetens the pot still more is that He is willing to take on creating people with wrinkles. Like me.
Love,
Lori
