John and I spent a chunk of change a few years back to climb on a plane and travel to San Francisco to hear John Gray. Gray was not the only reason we went to the Smart Marriage Conference but he sure can braid together laughter and reality in a way that has staying power.
But thanks to You Tube you and your honey
can watch John, that's Gray, not Odhner, on your favorite couch without spending a dime. Here is the
link.
John, that's Odhner not Gray, brought home a book called Venus on Fire, Mars on Ice by Gray that I plan to read this summer. I will tell you about it when I finish.
One of the things John, that's Gray, not Odhner, told a
room full of marriage educators was that a man will do almost anything for his wife if he gets to be a hero. I have been grateful for John catching me in free fall, that's Odhner, not Gray, many times since.
It is hard to admit but I am not as hard wired to rescue him. Like the time he lost his wallet I felt less heroic and more annoyed. He on the other hand would bring me cash without a hint of scolding.
I am not sure why that is.
Maybe after I read the book I will know.
