Thousands of people are landing in Russia for the Olympics. They bring their lucky hockey sticks, and tuck their ice skates in a padded and locked case as carry on. No taking chances with lost luggage when it comes to winning the gold.
There is another important thing every athlete is certain to bring to Sochi. A
coach.
Any aspiring skier or skater depends on the feedback of an experienced mentor. No exceptions. It is not considered wimpy to learn from someone who values your success as much as you do. When
"Marlie" steps off the ice after a performance, the first person to greet them is their coach. The microphones don't reach that far but
it looks like there is a flurry of reassurance, and affirmation, as well as poignant tips on how to improve. The encouragement is the soft bread around the peanut butter pointers in the sandwich. The athlete mostly nods, cries a little, and exhales.
Who is there to mentor you? I sincerely pray that there is someone or sometwo in your circle who wants your success as much as you do.
