I joined the kindness challenge. It is an invitation to be kind each day for three weeks, starting one month from today on 9/11. The people behind it are focusing on all flavors of interactions, but my personal goal is to be kind to my husband. I am not sure if signing up means they will give me reminders, or other encouragement. Perhaps I could put alerts in my phone, like I did the time the minister in church challenged me to pray on the hour every day for a fortnight. That was sweet. And hard.

Last week I received an act of kindness. Friends brought over a gorgeous bouquet of pink and white roses. The twins and I have been enjoying the beauty and scent every chance we get. John was kind when he brought home three boxes of produce, including watermelon and pineapple. I never buy the latter because it feels like work to hack through the spikes, but he will slice it up into sweet yellow squares for us to enjoy.

Nipun Mehta describes the shifts that can happen.
  • Consumption to Contribution
  • Transaction to Trust
  • Isolation to Community
  • Scarcity to Abundance
Those sound like marriage boosters to me.

Love,
Lori
