Marriage Moats Caring for Marriage

There is a concept I grew up with called spiritual offspring. As I understand it the phrase is a cradle for the myriad ways couples create something that does not require diapers.

One example is Zoobean. This is a resource for finding topical books for children. Felix and Jordan Lloyd wanted to find a helpful read for their son when he was about to become a big brother. They were disappointed with the information available, so they collaborated to compose an online registry of their favorites. Perhaps since they are a biracial couple they have made an extra effort to include a broad sweep of cultures. In perusing the categories I noticed a few found on my own shelves, but many more that are not. I have made a list too, of marriage literature for children.

Mehmet and Lisa Oz have joined forces to write books. Ray and Star Silverman have formed a program called Rise Above it, which counts as their eighth offspring. Les and Leslie Parrot are instrumental in the mentoring world. John and I have a music ministry, and have both composed and performed music for longer than we have been married. A husband and wife team have birthed a Facebook group dedicated to distance running. The musical theater program in the high school my son attends was crafted by a married team. Another have created a Bed and Breakfast in Costa Rica. Other friends are directors of a nursery for indigenous trees.

There are countless ways to be creative as a couple that bring new life into the world. Many take more than nine months to see the light of day.
