![]() There is a cutting edge effort in California to repurpose the rage of imprisoned murderers into a force for peace. It is a year long program including yoga, letters of apology to the victims, classroom work and meditation. The video I watched was a pinhole sized glimpse, but enough to convey that change is possible. Marriages are vulnerable to anger. It can be dicey to find adequate boundaries, because fury does not often send a preamble. It appears like a bolt of lightning and strikes in a flash before you have time to find shelter. I know I have been stunned by the eruption of harsh words and threats, when ten minutes before there were calm skies. There is another barrier to resolution. Most of us are too embarrassed to admit that we are capable of high pitched shrieking. But when I see the potential for healing among men who society has deemed contemptible, it breaks open the possibilities for those of us who are only trapped by invisible bars. Photo by Chara Odhner
