Marriage Moats-Simon Cowell

![]() I don't understand why Simon Cowell has a reputation for being a crab. The only times I have seen him have been when he raved about Susan Boyle, and Paul Potts and more recently Scott James. His smile is brilliant, his praise genuine.
It is possible that those instances are perhaps outnumbered by a slew of scenes I have not witnessed, which may include less than agreeable interactions. But my impression has been set and will not be dismantled easily.
We do have a hefty influence on how others see the world. My cousin writes for the New York Times and I just read his unflattering review of a television series I was thinking of watching. Now I won't.
I saw a cartoon that made me laugh.
"I am not in denial. I am just selective about my reality."
We are all in a position to be selective about our reality. Yesterday my son called and asked how I am. I regret that I chose to whine to him about an uneventful weekend, rather than highlight the hours I enjoyed reading Anne of Green Gables with my girls. The latter hours were real, maybe more real than the boring ones. If I am offered a chance to toss a twelve second review of my marriage to an acquaintance who may not inquire again for another week or a year, shall I sully it with a complaint, or a flash of appreciation?
