While I told Benjamin
that he would see his friend at Thanksgiving and at first he didn't, I told him that he wouldn't see her at Tableaux and he did. It just goes to show how misplaced my predictions are.
John and I were in the cast, singing as part of the throng around the baby Jesus. Benjamin came up with the congregation to be close enough to smile at the infant. Yet Ben had something
important to say. He understood not to speak out loud so he looked directly at me and mouthed the words.
"I saw Kayla!"
Here I was, wearing gold and white, trying to embody those celestial messengers who could not bear to keep silent. The heavenly host
had news they wanted to express. Benjamin, too, felt an urge to let me know his good fortune, as if his joy was not complete until he had.
Maybe it wasn't.
Love,
Lori
