The Phillies are the team that is local to where I lay my head, and they made it to the World Series. This was an extraordinary turn of events, and the flood of support showed up on people's heads, and backs, and maybe even a few tattoos. My daughter who lives in Philly, and who took this picture, said she could hear the celebratory cheers from her door. There was not the investment at our house either to buy tickets, or to plant ourselves in front of a screen with a bowl of chips. But it was enjoyable to chat with fans who had. As it happened, winning a few games was not quite enough to reach the pinnacle of success, and the prize went to another team. No doubt there was plenty of hollering in those neighborhoods. I have not been a participant in the vibrant world of sports, but rather a sporadic observer. Still it is obvious that children and adults can step into personal progress through their determined effort on the field. Or court. Or lap pool. There is a quote that seems fitting. "The circle of a person's life is to know, to understand, to will and to do." That energy pulls us into learning the rules, committing them to muscle memory, throwing our backs into chasing them, and finally following through. I want to embody that swing of intention. Then the home that I run toward will be worth stretching every muscle in my body. Plus the miracle is that rather than one winner, there is room for everyone. Love, Lori
